It was all done in a traditional Basque style.
In 1928, the Entreprise Gaume set up its own design office.
Daniel Meller gave Pyla sur mer to the town of La Teste in 1930 and Pierre Dignac made the road between La Teste and Pyla.
A town hall, post office, chapel and school were all built.
At Pilat Plage the celebrities arrived: Jeanne Lanvin, the Rothschild family, Annabella, Jean Murat, Tyrone Power. Yvonne Printemps came with Pierre Fresnais.

A casino-hotel project to be called the "Carlton" failed in 1932 because of the Depression.
Gaume grew and employed 250 people.
To this day, the company has built more than 4,000 custom made luxury villas in all the districts of Le Pyla.
It has also developed the Piquey district on the Cap Ferret peninsula, where it has continued to build.
The laborers used to go to the sites in pinnaces from the Pyla factory, where the wooden frameworks, trimming and ironwork are still manufactured.
Jacques and Jean took over from Louis Gaume in 1962 and finished the Ermitage and Vieux Pilat districtd.
Today, jacques' sons : Laurent runs the construction company and Louis the group.
Bernard runs the hotel-restaurant La Corniche. |
